Coach and mentor

Since his days as a Psychology student, Fanie has found himself drawn to and actively involved in coaching and mentoring. This continued through-out his career, during which he held various leadership positions. 
He lectured, coached, mentored, counselled (on a volunteer basis) over a period of 26 years and he performs as a guest speaker – mainly on Interpersonal Relations and the Development of a Healthy Self-image.
In one of his first jobs he was a full-time vocational guidance officer. Later, he was involved in Pre-marital Counselling for a period of four years, on a volunteer basis. He also published a book for teenagers on relationships.
In 2008 he qualified for appointment as a Practitioner Member of “Coaches and Mentors of South Africa” (“Comensa”). He was also elected as the Secretary of the Gauteng Chapter of Comensa.

Soft Skills Training Facilitator

Since June 2006, he has been facilitating soft skills training, covering the following themes:
Assertiveness, Celebrating Diversity, Coaching, Conflict handling, Conflict management, Contact centre agent induction course, Customer engagement, Emotional literacy, Interpersonal skills, Presentation skills, Problem solving, Service excellence, Stress management and Time management.

Management

He performed a number of management positions including Head of Publicity of the National Road Safety Council, Director of the Heart Foundation and Chief Director in The Presidency, where he served for more than 22 years.

Public relations

He served as a public relations officer (in different forms) for 12 years and was during that time admitted as a full member of the Public Relations Institute of South Africa (PRISA).

Qualifications

- BA with inter alia Psychology, Sociology and Communications
- Masters in Public Administration
- Intermediate Diploma in Public Relations.
- A course on Information Systems and Technology Management
- “International Computer Driving Licence
- Obtained a Fulcrum Coach certificate from the Institute of Neuro-Semantics Africa.
- Registered "Identity Compass" Consultant.
- Firebird Certified Practitioner in using the art of Neurolinguistic Programming.
- Attended a course which enables him to act as an Active Learning Coach.
- Certified as a "Coaching Genius Graduate" by the International Society of Neuro-Semantics.
- Qualified as a Master Meta Coach (ACMC) by the International Society of Neuro-Semantics

Obtained a Golden Master Fulcrum Performance Coach certificate from the Institute of Neuro-Semantics Africa.

Die Grafsteensangers

He played a major role, over 26 years, in camps for school leavers (matriculants) in both KwaZulu-Natal and Mpumalanga-Pretoria-East. The camps last 10 days and the purpose is to prepare the campers for life after school - spiritually, socially and emotionally. He attended a total of 40 of these camps, which became known as "Skolliekampe". The Facebook group is here.
