Soft skills (Also sometimes referred to as "People Skills" or "Life Skills")
What would you like to know or do about "Soft Skills"?
These skills play a key role in:
Getting along with yourself
If you basically accept and love yourself, it will have a significant influence on how other people perceive you and how you get along with them. It will also impact on your self-confidence, which will influence the risks that you are prepared to take and therefore the success that you have with reaching your goals.
Getting along with others
The better you understand other people, the better your chance of dealing with them in a way that will draw them to you, or at least make you acceptable to them. Don't bluff yourself - we all want to be acceptable, deep inside. Getting along with people is a key skill in being successful in building and maintaining meaningful friendships - including intimate friendships. Getting along well with siblings, parents, children and other relatives (even though you didn't necessarily choose them as your friends) significantly adds to the quality of your life.
Success in your career
It is widely accepted that the way in which staff get along with colleagues (internal clients) and with external clients is as important (and often more important) for the success of the organisation, than the quality and price of the products. This means that improving your soft skills will make you a more valued colleague, employee, supervisor or manager. If your company and clients value you more, you are bound to be happier and make more money in the long run.
All the major successful companies encourage their managers and employees to improve their soft skills. All the soft skills mentioned below are important for success in the work place - some (like "Customer Service" very directly so.).
